Advocacy

The consumer element of tobacco harm reduction advocacy in Australia

Endorsing, Promoting, Educating, Supporting

Focus - Endeavours

We advocate for responsible, pragmatic regulatory change, that would contribute greatly to public health in Australia. We wish to see a greater understanding and acceptance of less harmful nicotine delivery products, including their safety and efficacy, and hence, see a drastic reduction in overall smoking prevalence.

October 2, 2019 Update: We will be closed during the month of October to attend my mother’s memorial in the USA. In addition we will be updating the site to cater for advocacy related news and events.

Smoking Prevalence

3 million Australians smoke. Although we witnessed a steady decline in recent decades, smoking rates virtually stalled from 2013 to 2016.

Tobacco Harm Reduction

A term used to to describe ways of reducing harm from smoking, without giving up the use of nicotine. Including Vaping, Snus and Heat not Burn.

Benefiting Public Health

Advocacy

Given the enormous benefits that are inherent to THR, presenting the latest evidence-based research to various government and medical based sectors, is at the root of our advocacy.

Consumer Involvement

Whilst meetings with politicians and regulators is necessary, engaging with the community, and bringing attention to harm reduction measures is equally important, perhaps even more so.

Switch to Vaping Campaign

For the past 8 years we have been running a Switch to Vaping campaign, introducing and educating the smoking public, as well as inviting them to experiment with vaping.

Ongoing Support

The likelihood of quitting smoking, whether utilising Vaping, Snus or Heat not Burn products, is greatly increased with personal one-on-one support. We, along with our supporters or volunteers, are happy to assist.

AND YET…. Government, both liberal and labor, refuse to allow smokers access to safer liquid nicotine for vaping – whilst permitting the sale of potentially deadly tobacco on every street corner.

Society benefits by embracing tobacco harm reduction

What's more effective than NRT's?

Contrary to what we are told, numerous studies shown that traditional nicotine replacement therapies such as patches or sprays, offer little to no relief. Smokers are 70% more likely to quit using e-cigarettes, Heat not Burn products or smokeless tobacco such as Snus.

Nicotine harm is equal to caffeine

Numerous representatives from the science and medical communities have stipulated that the level of harm from nicotine equates to that of caffeine. It should also be pointed out that nicotine is not carcinogenic.

Why vaping is 95% less harmful

Combustion, or the burning of tobacco, is what causes the vast majority of harm when smoking. In contrast, vaping produces an aerosol so there is no combustion. Furthermore, research has shown there is no lung damage from vaping.

Physical & Psychological benefits

Quitting smoking is the best thing one can do for the mind and body. Smokers who switch to harm reduction methods, attest to the fact that they feel far more positive about life, and often engage in more outdoor activities.

Improved respiratory

Want to rediscover the great outdoors without the shortness of breath? Most smokers who quit by vaping feel more energised and positive about their life.

Cardiovascular Benefits

There’s no question that smoking is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease. Whilst it’s best to not smoke or vape, the latter offers significantly less risks.

Rediscover scent and taste

For the overwhelming majority, quitting smoking allows for the return of one’s taste buds, not to mention the ability to rediscover the sense of smell.
